We sell wood by the cord, delivering it as close to its storage location as our trucks can get. Please let us know if you have special instructions for receiving the load.
How Much Firewood Is in a Cord and How to Store It
What Is a Cord of Firewood?
A cord is typically a volume of 128 cubic feet—or a stack that is 4 feet wide by 4 feet high, and 8 feet long (4x4x8). To measure, you need to lay the firewood as tightly as possible so that they are parallel to each other.
How to store firewood?
- The place should be convenient, but meet fire regulations.
- Not recommended to stack firewood near the house due possible termites
- Place a tarp under the logs so that there is no direct contact with the soil.
- For air circulation, raise the wood off the ground using a grate or two parallel pieces of cut lumber.
- Do not stack them tightly against a wall or fence, it is important to leave a couple of inches distance.
- Cover the stack with a tarp or plastic sheeting, but leave the sides uncovered to allow air to circulate. (If covered completely, the wood will absorb moisture and burn poorly.)
